What problems does our service solve?
We save time and we expose price creativity by helping consumers to look beyond the marketing hype when selecting a new product/supplier.
Why do people use comparison engines?
It saves time. Internet-users can find the best value products that are most suitable to their needs & requirements, while merchants benefit from an additional online channel to market and incremental source of revenue.
How do we make our money?
Commission from suppliers and advertising revenue.
How can you claim to offer a fair unbiased service when suppliers pay you varying amounts of commission?
Because we don’t rank suppliers according to savings, therefore we don’t have an opinion about which product is the best/cheapest. Our customers are the ones that choose how they want to view product information.
Do you think that price comparison sites skew results in favour of those suppliers paying the most commission?
It’s fair to assume that some suppliers will inevitably be treated as being ‘more equal than others’ if they are paying enough for the privilege (even if they do not have the most competitive products). Theoretically it would be easy for websites that list ‘savings’ to alter the ranking of suppliers to ensure maximum profits. However this would present an unfair and imbalanced picture to the consumer. If this were the case, you’d have to question why you are in business in the first place.
Where does your data come from?
The data in our calculators and best buy tables comes directly from the suppliers. It is constantly updated with new tariffs and special offers, making it easy to see whether a better deal has appeared on the market since last time you checked.
The information in our guides and articles is based on extensive research of the home phone market and up-to-date information about the latest tariffs and suppliers.
Does the service cost me anything?
No. We believe it’s the consumer’s right to be informed about what’s going on in the market. We also believe that there are some expensive and unreasonable suppliers out there, and their customers should not be led to think that they’re getting a good deal. For this reason, we offer the service for free and have made a huge effort to keep our calculators and best buy tables as simple as possible.
I want to know more about suppliers than tariff prices
We do not currently list service data on each provider. However, you can visit Topcomm.
TopComm is a co-regulatory initiative set up by fixed line telephone providers to provide periodic reports on key performance indicators, for example fault repair and complaint resolution.
