Service Type

Each home phone service uses one of the following methods of connecting you to the person at the other end:

Prefix numbers: You'll dial a few numbers to divert the line through your secondary supplier, before dialling the number you want to call.

Autodiallers: You'll plug a small machine into your phone line that automatically dials a prefix before each call.

CPS (carrier pre-selection): This system diverts your call automatically without the need for prefixes or new hardware. Only available if you have a BT line and, in most cases, you'll still pay line rental to BT.

Switch line rental: This way, your call is automatically diverted by CPS and you'll pay line rental charges to your new provider instead of BT.

VOIP (voice-over IP): Make phone calls through your broadband internet connection.
