Your supplier is the company you pay for your phone calls. You might also pay this company for your line rental as well (a standing charge of around £10 a month).

Some suppliers work via a cable link to your house (eg VirginMedia, formerly ntl:telewest), and some work through a normal BT line (eg BT, Toucan, TalkTalk).
