Getting both your line rental and calls from BT can make things easier, but switching to another provider could save you money on your monthly phone bills…
Wherever you live, there are a number of options when it comes to choosing the line rental for your home phone service, so it’s important you choose one that suits you and your household’s calling habits. You don’t have to stick with BT, as there are plenty of suppliers with cheaper deals.
Home phone suppliers are now able to buy line rental (on a wholesale basis) from BT and charge their customers for it. In practical terms, this means that you don't have to pay BT separately for line rental anymore - you can take both your calls and your line rental with a different supplier, including YourCalls.net, Primus Saver, and TalkTalk.
Primus Saver currently offers the UK’s cheapest line rental for just 9.49 a month, including free evening and weekend calls. This offer is only available through Homephonechoices.co.uk.
Other cheap line rental offers include YourCalls.net (www.yourcalls.net) at £9.69 a month, and Direct Save Telecom (www.directsavetelecom.co.uk) costing £11.30 a month. Both suppliers include free evening and weekend calls with their line rental deals.
BT line rental costs £15.45 a month if you pay by monthly direct debit. TalkTalk line rental currently costs £14.50. If you want cheaper calls and you're thinking of switching to an alternative phone provider, you can switch line rental as well to save more money.
