Telecommunications giant Sky has increased its number of home phone and broadband customers.
More UK households are taking advantage of money-saving bundles, with Sky home phone (www.sky.co.uk) adding 132,000 customers in the last three months.
The satellite digital TV, home phone and broadband provider has increased the number of customers who subscribe to its triple play bundles from 12% to 17% over the months of July, August and September 2009 when compared to the same quarter the previous year.
Chief executive of Sky, Jeremy Darroch, said: “More customers are saving money by choosing Sky for each of TV, broadband and telephony.”
Over 1.9 million homes in the UK now have their home phone provided by Sky, however Sky’s landline service is only available if you’re also a Sky TV customer.
More of Sky’s TV customers will soon be able to connect to the providers telephone network for discounted broadband and home phone packages as it has now unbundled and upgraded over 70% of Britain’s local telephone exchanges.
Simon Piper, business development manager at Homephonechoices.co.uk, said: “It’s good to see that homeowners are realising that there are alternatives to BT, and that they can save money on their monthly home phone bills by bundling their services.”
Piper advises bill payers to compare prices and see whether they could save: “The Homephonechoices.co.uk price comparison calculator could help you find a cheaper provider for your line rental and calls package.”
