Landline, TV and broadband supplier TalkTalk has been voted the best overall provider in the Homephonechoices.co.uk 2010 customer satisfaction awards.

TalkTalk (www.talktalk.co.uk) has taken the crown as best UK home phone provider in the latest Homephonechoices.co.uk customer satisfaction awards, after winning seven out of the 10 categories, including awards for clarity of pricing and ease of understanding bills.

A spokesman for TalkTalk said: “It really makes a difference when customers themselves have made it clear how happy they are with our services.”

“We’ve worked hard on making sure our home phone customers get the best possible service and value, and these results show our efforts are really paying off,” he added.

Rival triple-play provider Sky (www.sky.com) won the quality of customer service awards for both bundles and overall provider, and Primus Saver was given the title of overall best provider in the value for money category.

Michael Phillips, product director at Homephonechoices.co.uk, said: “TalkTalk has made an impressive effort with its home phone services and this has definitely paid dividends. Sky continues to set the standard to beat when it comes to customer service, and it’s good to see that smaller niche providers have really come into their own.”

Primus Saver currently offers the cheapest line rental in the UK, at £9.15 a month for its Home Phone Saver tariff. This includes free unlimited evening and weekend calls.

The survey, among 8,418 respondents, found that value for money and customer service remain the biggest headache for customers, with only 63% of households satisfied with their supplier.

Phillips added: “While the majority of respondents were generally satisfied with their service, there are still some stumbling blocks that home phone providers need to address if they are going to retain their customers in the long term.”

I can't believe that Talktalk are the best phone provider. Does that mean cheapest. I've been waiting about an hour to report a fault on my line. I'm not though yet. What I want to know is which provider gives the best customer services, which other people don't seem bothered about.
My broadband is unbelievably slow as well.

Who on Earth voted for this award? Talk Talk are the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Shocking service, intermittent phone availability and the worst "broadband" I have ever come across. It is usually true that you get what you pay for, and Talk Talk is cheap- unless you count the hours and hours spent in correspondance with their complaints team and CEO to extracate myself from them. Do not sign up to anything with these peple- you will regret it

I ordered the TALKTALK phone/broadband package on November 12. I am still waiting and despite speaking to many people in India South Africa and England I have got nowhere and at a loss what to do next. It is impossible to speak to any one who knows what they are doing and obviously TalkTalk don't want to disclose the phone numbers of staff who might actually know what they are doing. Can anybody help me? - Feb 2 2010 6:27PM

I totally disagree although i wished this would be true.
Talk talk have made promises that they did not intend to keep.
Im talking about convincing existing tiscali customers to change over to talk talk and confirming on 2 occasions that i would be able to keep my tiscali email.
they also claim to handle everything which of course is not true as they say that only the client can cancel their account with tiscali. Which at this point means losing my existing email address according to tiscali.
As a result tiscali are threatening suspension of my account and talk talk till now are not honouring what they have sold me.
I feel i have been lied to at any cost. i have spent hours on the phone which is a billable call to top this all up.
I dont know what they have won with homephonechoices as this does not seem to be the case with me.
Please contact me if you wish to do so. I just wanted to add my thoughts to their claim of customer satisfaction.

Manuel Ferreira, Dereham,

It is a shame that in fact the Talk Talk has had such a prestigious award when it is unable to provide basic features such as voicemail to its landline customers.

Furthermore the customer service providers provide different answers to simple questions. 8 customer service reps, 2 technical reps and 4 sales reps later I have been unable to set up a simple phone package.

After a confusing conversation with Onetel provider to add a call forwarding feature in December, I ended up with a new account opening with Talk Talk and all features eliminated. I have been on the phone for 5 consecutive days and still don't have my old One Tel service options back. I am told that voicemail is not functioning across the board and that there is no telling when it will be fixed.

This company will fall fast if it continues at this pace. Its frankly pathetic.

Talk Talk are not that good you pay for what you get, customer service is shocking and the broadband is so intermittent at peak times just don't bother. I spent three hours on the phone in a que to speak to someone and got nowhere in the end, so picked up the phone and changed to Sky. Nice one talk talk it would have been nice to be able to talk talk to them. - Jan 20 2010 11:17PM
