US pop monarch reveals she regularly talks to her ‘little monsters’ via landline telephone.
Lady Gaga has revealed herself to be a regular home phone user.
American singer Gaga said that she often talks to her fans - or “little monsters” as she calls them - when they call her dad’s landline.
Speaking to US late evening news TV show Nightline, Gaga, known to her nearest and dearest as Stefani Germanotta, explained that some fans know her father’s home phone number and that he refuses to change it.
Talking to Nightline’s Robin Roberts about spending Christmas Day at home with her family, Gaga said that her “other family” - the little monsters - are never far away.
She explained: “Whenever I’m home [my dad] always gives me the phone - I’m sure we’re gonna get lots of calls now on Christmas Day.
“The phone’s always ringing and he goes ‘hold on - it’s Alicia from Tennessee,’ and then he hands me the phone and I’m like ‘hi Alicia’ and it’s like ‘oh my God it’s really you’. It’s really sweet.”
Fittingly, one of Gaga’s biggest hits so far was Telephone; written by the Lady herself with producer Rodney Jerkins and featuring Beyoncé, it went to number one in the UK in March last year.
Research from telecoms regulator Ofcom earlier this month found that, even though most of us now use mobile phones to contact our family and friends, we still use our landlines for an average of five hours a month - though probably not to talk to little monsters.
