About TalkTalk

TalkTalk home phone was launched by mobile phone retailer The Carphone Warehouse in 2003. In January 2010 TalkTalk took over Tiscali, and then in April 2010 TalkTalk split away from The Carphone Warehouse.

Since launching its “free broadband” service, the company has invested heavily in its customer support and call centres, and has improved its customers’ satisfaction.

TalkTalk home phone won two uSwitch.com best value awards in 2008, for best value for money, and best value for money bundle. The company has also expanded into several European countries and was the first company to offer free international calls between its own customers in different countries.

What is TalkTalk home phone?

TalkTalk offers two home phone packages; one with free evening and weekend calls and one with free anytime calls. A minimum 12-month contract applies for all TalkTalk’s call packages and line rental.

Talk UK Evening and Weekend includes:

Talk UK Anytime includes:

If you want broadband as well as home phone, consider taking the TalkTalk Essentials package, which includes 24Mb broadband with a 40GB monthly download limit.

Why should I get a TalkTalk package?

TalkTalk line rental costs £11.49 a month - which is still 5p cheaper than BT. This rate is available if you pay by direct debit and sign-up for paperless billing (to receive a paper bill it will cost an extra £1.45 a month).

Further inclusive features are:

  • Calling circle - additional discounted calls to 16 named numbers including international and mobiles
  • Free standard voicemail
  • Nectar points earned on every TalkTalk bill (2 points per £1 spent)
  • Free TalkTalk customer service and technical support calls from your TalkTalk landline

You can also “boost” your home phone package with extras from TalkTalk, costing from just 45p a month. There are four “boosts” to choose from:

  1. Global Saver
  2. Mobile Extra

These will help enhance your home phone deal from TalkTalk and help you save money on your monthly bills.

What do I need for TalkTalk home phone?

To take advantage of TalkTalk’s competitive prices you will have to switch your home line rental to TalkTalk. You will get one bill for both your phone line and calls and TalkTalk will deal with any problems on the line.

Switching you home line rental to TalkTalk will take no longer than 14 days and there shouldn’t be a break in your service. TalkTalk will even liaise with your current supplier to cancel your existing contract.

If you need a brand new phone line or a second line installed TalkTalk will do that as long as you are going to take both home phone and broadband services from the company. TalkTalk is currently running a limited availability offer to install a new or second line for just £69.99.

I was contacted on 11.6.10 & offered a package @ £28.24/month for 18 month contract, which was an improvement on £35.48 I had been quoted earlier. I was told the earlier package would be cancelled but I have now received the router etc. which I do not need as I am already with you via tiscali.
Please make sure I am on the £28.24/month package. If this can not be resolved quickly I wil consider changing my supplier.

I rang Talk Talk this morning to ask some questions about switching over to them after two sales representatives came to my house yesterday and I signed a contract to switch over from Sky. It took five calls and almost an hour to actually talk to someone by which time I decided to cancel the whole thing. Absolutely appalling service - avoid this company - I'm sticking with Sky - Jun 2 2010 10:47AM
I had for some time recieved my bill on line. Then talk talk decided to put an extra digit in the address and made the call in valid. Please put me back with the email and remove the internation anytime charge - May 26 2010 1:35PM

AVOID like the plague! used to be with TalkTalk, changed to Tiscali after MAJOR hassle (No web for 4 months). AARGH! TalkTalk took over Tiscali - probs retrnd, so canc. broadband kept phoneline. They disconnected us COMPLETELY and have now lost our tel no which we had for 30 yrs. Talktalk say its Tiscali that disc, Tiscali say Talktalk. They say BT have no., but BT want £100 to reconnect and they say Tiscali have to release no. Talktalk say tiscali would have to reinstate, but tiscali say that would be a new contract (which they now don't do) and we have to get that from Talktalk - OMG!!!!. They can give us a different no. (at a fee) which then involves the costs of respraying our van and reprinting all our invoices &headed paper - all through no fault of our own. When you try to speak to anyone and they realise it's complicated, they do the old "hello, hello? I can't hear you, the line seems to have gone dead" and put the phone down.

I have just cancelled an order with TalkTalk because they have constantly lied to me about installation and installation dates.

They are an appalling organisation and I urge everyone to avoid them.

BT are currently offering a Free BT Line Installation! then #11.49 line rental, also PlusNet Broadband offers a package from #5.99 per month.with no set up fee?
Before I decide a supplier as I currently have no such services in my flat,
Will TalkTalk match this if I take out your essentials package of phone and broadband as recently advertised.ie; free installation of a phone line and free set up for your phone and broadband?
