The home phone company simultaneously offers customers the opportunity to save over £50 a year on their line rental by paying it in a one-off lump sum”
An increase in line rental announced at the beginning of last month by Talk Talk has now kicked in.
The home phone company has hiked the cost of its line rental from £12.60 a month to £13.80 a month.
However, TalkTalk is simultaneously offering its customers the opportunity, also announced last month, to save over £50 a year on their line rental by paying for it upfront in one lump sum.
By opting for the new Value Line Rental service, TalkTalk customers can save £51.60 a year, or £44.60 a year if they are an AOL Broadband (part of TalkTalk) customer, by making a single online card payment of £114.
This works out at £9.50 a month, which is cheaper than the line rental offered by major home phone providers BT, Sky and Virgin Media.
However, Primus Saver currently offers the UK’s cheapest line rental, at £6.79 a month, which is available exclusively through Homephonechoices.co.uk.
BT, Sky and Virgin Media have all announced home phone line rental price hikes within the last six months. BT and Virgin Media now charge £13.90 a month, while Sky charges £12.25.
TalkTalk last week announced the availability of its 500 Global Minutes Boost package, which the company has billed as offering “the UK’s best value landline calls to international destinations”.
Subscribers get 500 minutes of calls from their landline to landlines and mobiles in 100 international destinations for £5 on top of what they pay for their broadband and home phone.
