Who offers line installation?

Many consumers are labouring under the misconception that BT (www.bt.com) is the only phone provider in the UK that can install phone lines. Most UK home phone providers do offer landline installation however, and they all charge a lot less than BT.

* All providers allow you to select a convenient appointment on a suitable date when you place your order online. However, line setup times will typically depend on the availability of an engineer, and other factors, such as the number of concurrent line installations in your area.

When choosing a provider to install your new phone line, you need to consider the call packages on offer as well as the installation cost. The majority of providers will make you sign-up to a 12-month line rental and calls package, so it’s important to look at the overall cost, not just the line installation.

While a provider such as TalkTalk (www.talktalk.co.uk) may charge less to get the new landline installed, it’s call charges and line rental are a lot more expensive than those on offer from Primus Saver and YourCalls.net (www.yourcalls.net).

Compare home phone tariffs first, to make sure you are signing up to the best deal for you.

If you’re also looking at getting a new broadband deal, think about signing up for a bundled package - you’ll get a better deal on your phone and broadband contracts, and may also get discounted or free line installation. Look out for special offers when you compare prices online.
