Satellite TV company Sky (www.sky.com) has grown into a telecommunications giant, offering not only digital TV, but also broadband and home phone packages.
Sky’s home phone service Sky Talk is available to all Sky TV customers, offering good value line rental and home phone packages. The basic calls package comes with free evening and weekend calls as well as competitive rates for calls to mobile phones.
Sky Talk was first launched in 2006, and there are now nearly 10 million Sky TV customers in the UK, 2.7 million of which have signed up to Sky Talk.
The provider offers two different home phone packages depending on when you make most of your home phone calls. Just by signing up to a Sky Talk could save you £5 a month on your broadband if you're bundling your services with Sky.
Sky Talk was initially only available to Sky TV customers, as part of a bundled package but this is no longer the case. You can now get either Sky Freetime or Anytime as a standalone service, bundled with your broadband or TV - or as part of a triple-play bundle with all three services.
You can also save on your line rental costs by switching to Sky. Its standard monthly line rental costs £14.50 a month - far cheaper than BT’s £15.45 a month. Pay a year’s line rental upfront and your monthly payments will be even lower.
The switching process is quick, easy and hassle-free. You can keep your existing phone number, and the Sky service is delivered down your existing copper wire landline.
Simply log on to the Sky website to find out if Sky Talk is available in your area, or if you can switch to Sky’s landline service. You will need an existing landline to do a straight switch, but Sky can install a phone line for £39 if you're not already connected.
