Homephonechoices.co.uk becomes the UK’s first accredited home phone price comparison website by telecoms regulator Ofcom.
Ofcom has awarded Homephonechoices.co.uk accredited status after putting the price comparison site put through a rigorous independent audit.
Consumers using Homephonechoices.co.uk can compare both standalone home phone packages and bundled packages that combine their broadband and/or digital TV subscriptions.
Ed Richards, chief executive at Ofcom, said: “Consumers can be sure that by using an Ofcom-accredited price comparison service they are going to be receiving accurate and up-to-date pricing information.”
Research by Ofcom found that 54% of home phone users are more likely to shop around if there is information available to calculate the cheapest landline provider based on usage, while 50% are more likely to trust an accredited price comparison website.
Sister website Broadbandchoices.co.uk first received the Ofcom price comparison stamp of approval in summer 2008.
Simon Piper, business development manager at Homephonechoices.co.uk, said: “To become an accredited price comparison site, the online calculators must be accessible, accurate, transparent and comprehensive - our site ticks all these boxes.”
He added: “This accreditation will give our users the confidence that they have chosen a highly credible comparison service to find the best home phone deal for them.”
