Home phone provider offers 12 months line rental for the price of 9 through a new one-off payment.
Home phone provider Plusnet is introducing a new one-off annual payment that will give customers 12 months line rental for the price of nine.
Line Rental Saver, which will be available from 6 December, offers home phone users a year’s line rental for a one-off payment of £113.88 - a saving of £42 on paying monthly line rental.
However, Plusnet’s monthly line rental is set to rise by £1 to £12.99 a month from the same date, while its UK call prices will increase by 1.1p and call set up fee by 1.6p.
Plusnet said: “We know no one likes it when prices go up but rest assured you’ll continue to benefit from the investment we’re making in our award-winning UK based service and support. What’s more we’re making an offer to help you save some money.”
Line rental works out at £9.49 a month through Plusnet Line Rental Saver, which is available with any of the provider’s current call packages, 51p a month cheaper than the cost of a landline through telecom giant BT’s one-off payment scheme.
It is also 46p a month cheaper than getting a landline through Sky’s advanced payment package, Upfront Line Rental, 1p a month cheaper than TalkTalk's Value Line Rental service and £4.41 a month less than Virgin Media’s monthly line rental, as the provider doesn’t offer a one-off payment scheme at present.
Those who have been a Plusnet basic home phone and broadband customer since December last year who take advantage of Line Rental Saver this December will save over £20 a year on their entire package.
Nick Rawlings, commercial director at Plusnet, said, “We believe customer loyalty should be rewarded and for customers who are prepared to commit to 12 months service, we are delighted to introduce Line Rental Saver.”
Primus Saver remains the cheapest line rental in the UK at £6.49 a month, and this package does not require a one-off annual payment.
