What is BT Line Rental Saver?

Line Rental Saver from BT (www.bt.com) lets you save money on your phone bills by paying for one year's worth of line rental in advance. It costs just £120 for 12 months, which works out at just £10 a month. BT line rental usually costs £14.60 a month when you pay by monthly direct debit. This means you could save over £40 a year on your line rental.

To be eligible for Line Rental Saver, you have to make a certain number of calls to meet BT's "minimum call commitment". These could be either chargeable calls or inclusive calls. If you're billed monthly you'll need to make at least two calls a month. And if you're billed quarterly you'll need to make at least six calls every three months. Otherwise you'll be charged £1.50 a month (or £4.50 a quarter).

How do I get BT Line Rental Saver?

To qualify for Line Rental Saver, you must sign-up for paperless billing and take any one of the following products:

  • Unlimited Anytime Plan
  • Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan
  • Any package of bundled products, such as calls and broadband

When will I know when Line Rental Saver is ending?

When your Line Rental Saver contract is nearing its end, BT (www.bt.com) will get in touch to let you know. You'll be able to re-apply at that point in time.

Please explain - in unlimited anytime plan there are penalties applied if fail to make chargeable calls per month. If on unlimited free calls how do you make chargeable calls ? Is this a sharp practice to ensure penalties are unavoidable ?

Dear Sirs,

I am on the unlimited anytime calls, paperless billing package. You wrote to me some time ago offering me line rental at 9.49 per month by paying a year's rental in advance.

I have mislaid the letter. How do I take up the offer?
