Primus Eco Saver

Primus offers an environmentally-friendly alternative to its low cost Home Phone Saver tariff - the Primus Eco Saver call plan, which offers calls and line rental for just £9.69 a month.

The new Eco Saver tariff includes line rental and free evening and weekend calls, for just £9.69 a month - a saving of £1.85 a month compared to BT. You’ll also receive £40 credit at the end of your 18-month contract if you choose to stay with Primus for a further 18 months.

Primus is an independent home phone provider which entered the UK market in 1996. Although a relatively new name in the UK, it has invested heavily in state-of-the-art technology at its London Docklands headquarters, offering customers a discounted phone service.

Why should I get the Primus Eco Saver tariff?

If you want to save money on your phone bills (and do your bit for the environment), switching your home phone service to Primus is an option.

Primus offers the cheapest line rental in the UK with its Home Phone Saver call plan. This tariff includes line rental and free evening and weekend calls, for just £7.99 a month - it is only available exclusively through Homephonechoices.co.uk though.

Now, Primus is offering an environmentally-friendly tariff to save consumers money on their phone bills: Primus Eco Saver. As part of the Eco Saver tariff, Primus will make a donation to The Tree Council for every new customer that joins.

Customers switching to the new tariff will get free evening and weekend calls and their line rental for just £9.69 a month. In order to take advantage of the discounted rate however, you must pay by monthly direct debit and receive your bills online via paperless e-billing.

If you switch to the Eco Saver tariff, Primus will also give you £40 credit at the end of the 18-month contract, providing you sign-up for another 18-month contract with them.

All Primus customers will receive free basic calling features, including voicemail, 1471 call return and withheld number services. And after the switch to Primus, the company will handle any problems or faults on the line going forward.

What do I need for the Primus Eco Saver tariff?

All of Primus’ line rental and home phone packages are available to anyone with an existing copper wire phone line (ie a BT line).

If you choose to switch to Primus, in most instances you’ll be able to keep you current telephone number. There shouldn’t be a break in your service when you switch, and an engineer won’t even need to visit your house to complete the switch. The entire switching process can take up to 14 days.

If you’re moving house or there is currently no home phone line installed in your new property, Primus can install a new line. The work will be carried out by BT Openreach on Primus’ behalf and you will be charged £59 by Primus. It shouldn’t take longer than five days to get connected. Simply ring Primus on 0800 036 0170 (www.primusconnect.co.uk) to arrange an installation date.

Before placing your order to switch to Primus, you should check with your current phone supplier that you are not locked into a contract. You should also check with your broadband provider to ensure that switching your phone service will not affect your broadband.

The prices in the table above are based on paying by monthly direct debit and receiving online paperless bills. If you choose to pay in a way other than direct debit, you will be charged an additional £5 a month. And if you choose to receive paper bills in the post, you will be charged an extra £1.80 a month.

Primus’ Eco Saver call plan comes with an 18-month contract, and is subject to a 30-day notice period.
