Home phone provider also sees line rentals rise, while the number of customers taking telephone, broadband and TV grows by over a quarter .
Sky gained 650,000 telephone customers in 2011, according to its latest financial results.
The home phone provider had over 3.4 million home phone users at the end of last year, up from 2.7 million at the end of 2010.
Sky also gained over 890,000 line rental customers over the course of the year, giving it a grand total of 3.1 million landline subscribers as of 31 December, 2011 - up from 2.2 million on the same date the previous year.
The company also achieved what it described as “another strong performance in home communications” in 2011, as it now has over three million customers that subscribe to a telephone, television and broadband bundle - up by over a quarter on 2010.
Jeremy Darroch, chief executive at Sky, said: “While these are tough times for many consumers, our customers are staying loyal and more households continue to join us.
“From broadband to high-definition, people are choosing Sky for a wider range of products than ever, underlining the transformation of our business over the last few years,” he added, referring to the company’s origins as a satellite TV broadcaster.
Darroch added that Sky hopes to give customers “more reasons to join and stay with us” in 2012.
One reason for the growth in telephone customers Sky experienced in 2011 might be that, in August last year, the provider froze its home phone subscription fees until September 2012.
