BT home phone customers could win Olympics tickets

The telecom giants’ users could win tickets if they match an Olympic record, simply by making a call, watching TV or using Wi-Fi

BT home phone customers could be at next year’s London Olympics simply by making a phone call.

The official communications services partner for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is giving its landline users, as well as those who use BT Wi-Fi or subscribe to its digital TV service, BT Vision, the chance to win tickets.

Every week between now and July 2012, BT customers can win a pair of tickets by matching specified Olympic or Paralympic records through using BT’s services.

For example, using BT home phone to make a call that last 3m 32.07 seconds would see the caller match the men’s 1,500 metre record and win them tickets.

Using a BT Wi-Fi hotspot for 13 minutes would match the men’s 5,000 metre record of 12 m 57.82 seconds, while watching four on-demand films via BT Vision would match the number of gold medals won by Jesse Owens in 1936.

If more customers hit the record than there are tickets available, a random prize draw will be used to select that week's winners from those that hit the record. Customers wishing to take part in the Record Breakers competition should sign-up at bt.com/recordbreakers.

Two-times gold medal winning decathlete and London Olympics ambassador Daley Thompson said: “Tickets are like gold dust and it is fantastic that BT is giving its customers a chance to experience the most anticipated event of 2012.”
