Homephonechoices.co.uk has teamed up with Primus to offer an exclusive line rental deal - you can get Primus Home Phone Saver, which includes line rental and free evening and weekend calls, for just £7.99 a month only through this site.

Primus is in the top 10 of global phone providers and entered the UK market in 1996. Although a relatively new name in the UK, it has invested heavily in state-of-the-art equipment at its London Docklands headquarters.

Primus has two home phone packages which cover both line rental and calls:

  • Primus Home Phone Saver - One of the cheapest line rental deals in the UK. Also includes free evening and weekend calls to local and national numbers
  • Primus Home Phone Max - This includes anytime calls to local and national numbers.

With both these packages, you will get a single bill from Primus and it will handle all aspects of your service, including any problems with your line.

Bear in mind that the prices in the table above are on the basis that you pay by monthly direct debit.

Primus also offers customers itemised paperless billing - you won’t get a paper bill in the post. If you want a paper bill that will cost an additional £1.80 a month.

Primus line rental plans have a 12-month contract length and are subject to a 30-day notice period.

Why should I get Primus Saver home phone?

Primus is one alternative if you are looking for a cheaper line rental and calls package. Primus’ line rental is currently one of the UK's most competitive deals.

However, in order to take advantage of the low rate you must be prepared to pay by monthly direct debit and accept paperless billing.

Homephonechoices.co.uk has an exclusive offer with Primus - you can get Primus Home Phone Saver for just £7.99 a month through this site (a discount of £1 a month on the normal tariff). Primus Home Phone Saver includes line rental and free evening and weekend calls.

You will no longer pay BT (www.bt.com) for your home phone line rental. It also offers free basic voicemail, 1471 call return and withheld number services.

Once you have switched to Primus, it will handle any problems with your line going forward. It has invested heavily in its network and data management centre.

Outside of its packages, Primus also offers low rates for national UK calls and international call rates starting at just 1p per minute depending on the country. As there are some big differences in the amounts charged for calling the various countries, check the country you may call frequently to see if the price is competitive before signing up.

What do I need for Primus Saver home phone?

Primus line rental and home phone packages are suitable for anyone with an existing copper wire phone line (ie BT line), who isn’t locked into a contract with their current home phone provider.

If you choose Primus, you can usually keep you current telephone number and there won’t be a break in your service. An engineer won’t even need to visit your house to complete your switchover, which will take up to 21 days.

If you are moving house and there is currently no home phone line installed in your new property, Primus can install a new line. The work will be carried out by BT Openreach on Primus’ behalf and you will be charged £59 by Primus. It shouldn’t take longer than five days to get connected.

We requested to switched from bt to them. saw very unfair terms in their contract-i.e they. try will still charge you for the whole contract even if they ceased the service to you + if there is a fault with the service. tried to call them, on hold for one hour with automated call and no answer. tried mailing them to clarified the terms and no response. i am canceling the switch. after sales support is non existent. Avoid at all cost! - Nov 4 2011 7:56PM
avoid them , after agrreing to join on phone and receiving wrong info via email i sent 4/5 emails to different email addresses and every one bounced , i just want to cancel and cant get through on the phone they just put you on recorded loop that is never answered , i wish i had read reviews on them before signing up through a comparison website , i cant believe this company can still be trading after reading about them but im hoping to send recorded delivery letter within 7 day cooling off period before im stuck with these dubious scam con merchants - Sep 24 2011 12:24AM
Primus telecom are VERY DISAPPOINTING!!
Think carefully before you change. They have overcharged me on every bill since I switched, I spot the errors & email them, EVERY time we play a stupid charade whilst they attempt to justify/squirm/explain with ludicrous illogical made up excuses about why the added on charges are correct.
They ALWAYS add things into the conveniently named "charges credits and adjustments figure" entry with no explanantion, also on more than one occasion they have added on VAT wrongly (significant ££ errors always in their favour naturally).
I have to say their customer servicce and billing is APPALLING. You can't cancel the service (unless you pay for all of it) until 12months has elapsed.

You have been warned.

I've been looking at the Primus deal and it states in the call charge section, minimum call charge 10.50p is a one off chage and applies to all non-inclusive landline calls. What does this mean in simple terms is it for every call that you are charged this? Would be good if you can answer this as I want to change phone supplier. - Dec 19 2010 6:45PM
