About Sky Talk home phone

Sky’s home phone service is called Sky Talk. Available to all Sky TV customers, it offers good value line rental and home phone packages, with free evening and weekend calls as well as competitive rates for calls to mobile phones.

Sky Talk was first launched in 2006, and there are currently 9.2 million Sky TV customers in the UK, 1.5 million of which have signed up to Sky Talk.

Sky Talk was voted ‘Best Overall Provider’ in the uSwitch.com home phone customer satisfaction awards last year, after winning seven out of 11 categories, including ‘Best Customer Service’ and ‘Most Likely to be Recommended’.

Why should I get Sky Talk home phone?

Because Sky Talk is only available to Sky TV customers, it is part of a bundled package. This means if you’re already with Sky you may be able to save money by taking your home phone package with Sky too. And for even more savings, you could also consider taking your broadband from Sky.

You can also take your line rental from Sky, combining it with your calls package, meaning you’ll only receive one home phone bill a month. This is cheapert than BT at just £11 a month.

Switching to Sky Talk home phone

The switching process is quick, easy and hassle-free. You can keep your existing phone number, and the Sky service is delivered down your existing BT landline.

However, you may not be eligible for Sky Talk if:

  • You don’t pay for your Sky TV subscription by direct debit or continuous credit card payment mandate
  • You are a BT Basic customer or on a BT light user scheme
  • You have outgoing calls barred or any other incompatible product on your phone line.

What do I need for Sky Talk home phone?

Sky Talk packages are only available to Sky digital TV customers. As well as having Sky digital TV, to receive Sky Talk you will also have to have a compatible BT line.

Sky Talk calls are made through your existing phone line, rather than through a cable or broadband connection. And the service is activated remotely, so a technician won’t need to visit to install anything.

If you are a new customer to Sky, Sky can install a phone line for you from £25.

I also want to know how I can improve my broadband from you as it seems terribly slow. I think I am a good customer of yours dispite being 80 yrs old and disabled, I have a comprehensive package with you, as I check with my account will show you. Please try to fix the phone and increase the speed of my broadband

All very well, BUT what SKY don't tell you ,and it's not in the small print,is that once they have your phone number, then you cannot have it back ! I have switched phone provider before and always "ported" my number and I switched to SKY TALK in the same way, but now I want to switch away from SKY TALK,they tell my new provider that the phone number is not available to them and therefore I will have to have a new random number...no big deal except I will have to inform hundreds of family and friends around the world that we have changed phone number. Thanks a lot SKY ! I for one will NEVER have SKY anything again!! - Apr 28 2010 8:46PM
